Zoning administrator reports denial and approvals; ordinance committee signals data centers hearing coming

At the start of the April 23 meeting, Zoning Administrator Becca Creasy updated the Planning Commission on recent zoning decisions and pending items.
Creasy reported the Board of Supervisors unanimously denied Zane Kite's special use permit application for a junkyard. The Board unanimously approved DeBusk Farm LLC's special use permit for a recreational vehicle park without an expiration date, based on the Planning Commission's recommendation. Creasy said the Laurel Creek Energy Storage project is still moving forward and that she had heard David Spence's solar farm project was no longer moving forward, although company confirmation was not yet received.
In other business, Commissioner Tony Dean and Creasy reported on the Ordinance Committee's recent discussion of data centers and said they expect a public hearing on data center regulations in the near future.
