Addison SD 4 administrators flag lagging kindergarten registration, plan outreach

Assistant Superintendent for Business speaker 25 said the registrar reported about 105 incoming kindergartners districtwide and that about 40 percent of returning students have registered so far — below last year’s level, which the administration said was about 60 percent at the same point. Speaker 25 said Army Trail has roughly 27 percent of returning students registered and Indian Trail about one-third, and recommended targeted outreach to those sites.
Board members asked whether delays in ISBE approvals or project timelines would affect costs; speaker 25 said cost estimates include inflation and the planned projects will proceed when approvals and funds are in place. The board asked the administration to follow up with outreach strategies for low-return schools.
What happens next: Administration will pursue outreach to Army Trail and Indian Trail to increase registration and will present the tentative FY27 budget at the June board meeting.
