Buena Park introduces recommended facilities hires: Catone and Perez

The Buena Park School District board on May 14 heard introductions for two recommended facilities hires: Carlos Catone, recommended for custodial and security supervisor, and Victor Perez Jr., recommended for director of facilities, maintenance, operations and transportation.

Paul Dines, the districtchief personnel officer, presented the candidates and read summaries of their backgrounds and experience. Paul Dines said the hires "embody family, community" and described them as "solution-oriented, great communicators" recommended to join the district management team.

Carlos Catone, introduced by the district, addressed the board with his family present and said he was grateful for the opportunity and "look[ed] forward to...serve the needs of each individual school and the district as well." Victor Perez Jr. thanked the board and said he was "humbled, and excited for this opportunity" and spoke about bringing energy and his commitment to facilities and student success.

Neither hire was voted on during the public portion of the meeting; the items were presented as recommended appointments and introductions. Board members welcomed both candidates and noted enthusiasm for their experience and family involvement.

What happens next: Personnel will complete any necessary hiring actions and onboarding if the board proceeds with formal appointment and ratification in a subsequent item or meeting.
