East Bridgewater committee approves $11,935 cybersecurity assessment

The East Bridgewater School Committee on April 28 approved a $11,935 agreement with Custom Computer Specialists to perform a districtwide technology and cybersecurity assessment.
The superintendent’s presenter told the committee the company will “do an assessment on walking the buildings just to look at the current technology,” review platforms and systems in use, and examine staffing and professional-development needs. The presenter said the vendor committed to notify the district promptly if they find any glaring issues during the review and estimated the work would take “4 to 6 weeks.”
Committee members framed the work as an assessment only, not an implementation contract; one member asked for confirmation that the deliverable would include recommended action items the district would then choose to implement. A committee member said, “this is just, again, this is just an assessment and then they’re gonna give us action items that we’re supposed to implement, correct?” and the presenter confirmed that was the plan.
The motion to approve the assessment was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote. The committee directed staff to execute the agreement and begin the assessment. The district staff said they would return to the committee with findings and any recommended follow-up steps once the vendor’s report is complete.
