The City Council authorized the city manager to execute a purchase agreement with Rosenbauer South Dakota LLC for a Type 1 fire engine using prior Measure P funding.
Staff said the council previously allocated $1.4 million for acquisition and equipment; the proposed engine purchase price is approximately $1.1 million and includes multiple manufacturer warranties. Fire staff noted the truck will restore frontline capacity lost when a prior engine was removed from service in May 2023.
"This replacement is necessary to restore and maintain our frontline capacity," the presenting staff member said. Councilmembers spoke in support of moving forward quickly given long manufacture lead times; staff said delivery could be as early as summer of next year but might face schedule delays.
The council approved the resolution authorizing execution of the purchase agreement by roll call, 5–0.
