The St. Martin Parish Council adopted RESOLUTION NO. 26-045-RS on May 5 honoring the life and community service of Doris "Dottie" Batiste Broussard, a lifelong St. Martinville resident who died March 25, 2026. The resolution commemorates her work in the community, her advocacy as a breast cancer survivor, and her culinary contributions.
The resolution also notes that Broussard became an organ donor at age 91 and that her liver was successfully transplanted, a fact recognized in the adopted resolution as an extraordinary final gift. Council Member Carla JeanBatiste presented the proclamation to Broussard’s family; a representative of the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency thanked the family for the donation and a son of Ms. Broussard addressed the council to express gratitude.
