St. Martin Parish Council adopts 2026 millage rates, authorizes bridge servitudes and construction contracts

The council passed ORDINANCE NO. 26-05-1542-OR, which establishes 2026 millage keys across parish functions; the record lists Road Maintenance at 3.410 mills and Fire Protection Maintenance at 5.340 mills among the levies adopted. Chairman Chris Tauzin moved adoption and Carla JeanBatiste seconded; the vote was unanimous with two members excused. The ordinance takes effect upon council approval and the Parish President’s signature.
The council also adopted ORDINANCE NO. 26-05-1543-OR, authorizing Parish President Pete Delcambre to acquire right‑of‑way servitude agreements for Parcels 1–4 shown on a Morgan Goudeau & Associates plat to permit repairs to the Auguillard Bridge on Auguillard Road. The ordinance authorizes the parish president to negotiate terms and to pay fair market value in accordance with appraisals; the measure passed unanimously.
By RESOLUTION NO. 26-018-RS the council accepted a Certificate of Substantial Completion for the Box Car Road roadside stabilization and repairs project performed by Diverse Solutions, LLC and authorized the parish president to record the certificate. The council also awarded the Expansion and Renovation of the Central Office Complex (Facility Planning and Control Project No. 50-J50-23-01) to Mourain Construction, LLC. The apparent low bid, including two alternates, totals $1,302,332.00; the council authorized Parish President Delcambre to sign contract documents to effect the award. Both actions passed by unanimous vote.
Parish President Pete Delcambre provided budget context during the meeting, saying the millage ordinance and capital work support ongoing infrastructure needs; he also discussed funding for other projects later in the agenda. All votes recorded in this article were unanimous with Hoyt Louviere and Corey Melancon excused.
The council’s adoption of the millage ordinance and the contract award are effective immediately according to the ordinances and resolutions adopted at the May 5 meeting.
