Lisbon Commission on Aging ratifies routine bills, discusses HVAC outreach and America 250 exhibit plans

The Lisbon Commission on Aging met at the Active Aging Center on Feb. 2, 2026. Vice Chairman Joseph Doran called the meeting to order at 10:02 a.m. and the commission recorded members present and absent.
The commission unanimously approved a motion by Ara Wilnas, seconded by Joan Marshall, to accept the minutes from the Jan. 5 meeting. It then voted unanimously to ratify bills #1–8 (motion by Karen Washington; seconded by Joan Marshall) and to approve bills #1–9 (motion by Michael Finnegan; seconded by Patricia Walburn). The listed payments include vendors such as Donna Benoit, Eversource, Norwich Business Machines, De Lage Landen Financial Services, WB Mason, Amazon Business, Verizon, Uncas Gas and others as detailed in the meeting packet.
Vice Chairman Doran reported the operating budget “looks good” across line items but acknowledged a question about the Van Maintenance line; Ara Wilnas agreed to follow up on that item. Doran also said he has not yet received responses from contractors for meetings to review HVAC system options for the Active Aging Center.
Joan Marshall reported she met with a Historical Society representative about Lisbon’s participation in the America 250 celebration. The society is seeking local historical items and volunteers willing to be interviewed for oral histories; the Active Aging Center is being considered as a display site and would be open on Family Fun Day for visitors to view the exhibit.
The Senior Coordinator’s monthly report included operating figures and program activity. Reported operational numbers included van rides increasing from 45 to 52 over the three-month span and Meals on Wheels totals of 300 (Nov.), 484 (Dec.) and 392 (Jan.). The report also summarized January programs (Cozy Makerspace, blood-pressure screening, The Gathering Table, paint class and a blood drive) and listed a February events schedule, including a Feb. 10 presentation by Dr. Wendy Hurwitz on techniques to increase happiness.
On appointments, Joseph Doran, Mary Brown and Joan Marshall indicated they would like to renew their appointments; Michael Finnegan said he would not seek reappointment, leaving one vacancy. Karen Arremony will notify the Board of Selectmen about the reappointments. Ara Wilnas also notified the commission of requested vacation time and confirmed coverage for building responsibilities will be provided when possible by P. Tripp or C. Martin.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:39 a.m. following a motion by Joan Marshall, seconded by Ara Wilnas, approved unanimously.
