Select Board approves transfer of liquor and entertainment licenses for Sankalp restaurant

The Foxborough Select Board approved on April 15 a local transfer of an on-premises all-alcohol beverage license from Kashiva Inc. to Sivanaka LLC (DBA Sankalp restaurant) and granted an annual entertainment license for the restaurant’s Washington Street location.
Applicant Perin Patel (speaker 11) told the board he has long been involved in the business’s management and will be the license-holder. Patel said the ABCC has already reviewed his background for a prior application and local checks (background, credit, civil records) will be completed before final local approval. He said he lives roughly an hour away but attends the restaurant most days and has co-partners and certified staff to manage the premises if he must be absent.
Police and licensing staff emphasized license-holder responsibilities: the license name must match the responsible party on site and absentee license-holders are not acceptable under local expectations. Board members asked about prior property issues unrelated to the liquor license; staff said there have been no liquor-related incidents since last September and the board discussed oversight for the premises.
After discussion the board closed the public hearing, moved and voted by roll call to approve both the transfer of the liquor license and the annual entertainment license for Sankalp.
