National City council approves Rodriguez’s remote attendance under Assembly Bill 24-49

The National City Council voted Oct. 21 to allow Councilmember Rodriguez to attend the special meeting remotely under Assembly Bill 24-49 after he said he was ill.
Councilmember Rodriguez told the council, “I've been sick all day,” when asked to describe the circumstances requiring remote participation. The mayor and clerk verified that a quorum of three members was present in the chamber, as required under AB 24-49.
The council moved to accept Rodriguez's virtual attendance for just cause and held a roll-call vote. Councilmember Yamani, Councilmember Molina and Mayor Morrison were recorded as voting aye; the motion passed.
City Clerk statements during the proceeding noted that Rodriguez had not participated virtually earlier in the calendar year, a factor the council considered in granting the request.
After the vote the council opened the Oct. 21 special meeting and proceeded with the agenda.
