Pocahontas County supervisors approve hire, invoices and $412,499.22 in claims

At their Oct. 22 meeting, the Pocahontas County Board of Supervisors recorded several administrative approvals, including a personnel acknowledgment, invoice approvals and acceptance of the county’s claims list.

The board acknowledged the Sheriff’s office hire of Heather Worrel as a full-time dispatcher/jailer who began work Oct. 21 at $20.45 per hour plus shift differential during her probationary period; the acknowledgement was made by Clarence Siepker and seconded by Brent Aden and carried unanimously.

After discussion with Assistant Engineer Gary Atherton about a DD114 tiling problem, the board approved a Rehab System LLC invoice for $6,904.90 to televise various drainage ditches while directing that the contractor be billed $886.21 for televising costs tied to tiling damage the contractor caused. Louis Stauter moved to approve a separate invoice from Bunda Seed Farm for $113.00 related to DD 44 MOD seed; that motion also carried unanimously.

Finally, Jeff Ives moved and Louis Stauter seconded approval of the claims as presented. The minutes publish a detailed claims list (see minutes) and report a grand total of $412,499.22 for this claims period.

The board also acknowledged receipt of a prorated HR services invoice from Renee VonBokern covering Nov. 2024–June 2025 and heard that Meyer Electric will replace two recalled electrical boxes at an estimated cost of $1,600 following an EMC insurance walkthrough. The board took no vote on the electrical work during the meeting; Meyer Electric was reported to be performing the replacement.

The meeting was adjourned after supervisors listed weekly committee assignments.
