Auditor Nita Hinrickson reminded the board that ARPA funds must be designated by Dec. 31, 2024 and relayed a $7,000 request from Recorder Cathy Frerk to digitize records. Clarence Siepker moved to approve the request and Brent Aden seconded; the motion carried with all supervisors voting aye.
County officials also asked staff to solicit quotes for a set of courthouse upgrades, including security cameras, door access and locks, smoke and fire alarms with a dialer that would ring into dispatch, and improved parking-lot lighting. The board did not approve those projects on Oct. 22 but flagged them for future procurement.
The board did not indicate whether the Recorder’s digitization project would require additional matching funds or specify a vendor; details of implementation and timelines were not provided in the minutes. The auditor’s office will oversee designation of the ARPA funds by the Dec. 31 deadline.
The board’s next regular meeting was rescheduled from Nov. 12 to Nov. 13 because of Veterans Day and the post-election audit; the board also moved its Dec. 24 meeting to Dec. 23.
