Associate Superintendent Marty Flowers presented a proposal for a new AP Business with Personal Finance course to provide a college‑level option for students who might otherwise miss a dual‑enrollment capstone. The course would offer AP credit and could help satisfy forthcoming personal finance graduation requirements; staff said alignment with Sierra College for dual enrollment remains under negotiation.
Flowers described additional potential CTE expansions — administration of justice and fire technology pathways — noting Sierra College interest and existing partnerships. Trustees supported the proposal’s intent and discussed timing, credit application to graduation requirements, and whether the class would be offered in a 0‑period to accommodate community instructors.
Flowers said final recommendations and any adjustments would return to the board June 10; if approved the course would be included in the 2026–27 academic planning guide and offered in fall 2026 with outreach to interested students.
