Commissioners vacate Skyview Road, adopt traffic ordinance and approve $142,589.92 in claims

The Caribou County Board of Commissioners approved several formal actions during its July 10 meeting.
The board held a public hearing and voted to vacate Skyview Road on the north side of Wood Canyon Road in the Wood Canyon South Subdivision after a motion by Commissioner Somsen and a second by Commissioner Mathews; the motion carried.
In a separate public hearing, commissioners considered traffic controls in the Afton's Way Subdivision and voted to adopt Ordinance 2017‑06 to add stop signs at the intersection of Balls Road and Reservoir Road and to add a yield sign on Afton's Way Road. Commissioner Mathews moved to adopt the ordinance, Commissioner Somsen seconded, and the motion carried.
The board also approved payment of claims totaling $142,589.92 and payroll claims totaling $290,706.88 and approved the minutes of June 26, 2017 as amended. Denise Horsley asked Commission Chairman Phil Christensen to sign release paperwork for USDA/Urban Development funds. The commission entered executive sessions at 10:47 a.m. (I.C. 74‑206(b)) and again at 1:10 p.m. (I.C. 74‑206(a)) and reconvened afterward. During a Board of Equalization session Aaron Cook reported that an applicant (Mr. Robertson) withdrew his application after learning a plat stated no winter maintenance would be performed on the road.
The board adjourned at 2:40 p.m. and set its next regular meeting for July 25, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
