Van Buren supervisors approve appointment, transfers, canceled checks and payroll claims

At its July 22 meeting the Van Buren County Board of Supervisors approved multiple routine administrative actions, including a personnel appointment, interfund transfers, cancellation of stale checks, and approval of payroll and claims.
On the recommendation of the local health nurse administrator the board appointed Korby Hornbaker of Keosauqua as a full-time home care aide effective July 22, 2024, at $16.50 per hour. The board set Aug. 6, 2024 as the date to destroy materials pertaining to the 2022 Primary Election (excluding tally books and abstracts) at the Van Buren County Recycle Center pursuant to Iowa Code sections 50.13 and 50.19.
The auditor will make the following transfers: an annual $5,000 transfer from General Basic to the County Conservation Land Acquisition fund, and a first-quarter FY2025 transfer of $250,092 from Rural Services to Secondary Roads. The board authorized cancellation of check #39257 (dated July 24, 2023) to Thomas Yochum for $250.00 and check #43304 (dated June 24, 2024) to Menke Professional Auto Parts for $112.40. The board also approved payroll and claims (#43462-43544, #43545-43547; claims #2059-2127 and Secondary Roads #30176-30201) and accepted the Recorder and Treasurer fiscal reports and an Oath of Office for the Veterans Affairs Commissioner (Wenke).
