The Peterborough Select Board on Dec. 6 opened and then closed a public hearing under RSA 41:14 to consider selling a one-acre town-owned parcel located off Greenfield Road.
Nicole MacStay said the parcel is "mostly wet" and that previous adjacent owners had expanded onto town land without the town's awareness. The current adjacent property owners, who recently purchased their land, contacted the town seeking to purchase the encroached-upon acre to resolve the situation. MacStay told the board the Conservation Commission and the Planning Board have since weighed in in favor of the sale.
Chair Tyler Ward moved to open the hearing; Mr. Bill Kennedy seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously to proceed. No members of the public offered comment during the hearing, and Chair Ward then moved to close it. The motion to close was seconded and carried unanimously.
No formal sale vote was recorded at the meeting; Select Board members indicated the repeated hearing was recommended by the town attorney because the Conservation Commission could not meet before the board's previously scheduled second public hearing. The board did not finalize terms for a sale during the Dec. 6 session.
