Council defers amphitheater grant scope and considers park improvements

Council members flagged the need to decide the scope of work for DCED amphitheater grant funds after the planned amphitheater project was tabled.
Engineer Jeff Shue said DCED would need the grant scope rewritten to match any new plan; Council discussed options including using funds for upkeep and replacement of existing park facilities, improvements to Fairmount Park playground equipment to broaden appeal, or installing a fence along the Rail Trail. Council members Brady Greer and Evan Hiester volunteered to gauge interest among residents for possible priorities.
Parks & Recreation reported on summer events: the July 4 fireworks were well received and the July 4 Car Show drew 134 attendees (90 registered). The committee asked that Milton Hershey School be allowed to have an informational table at the July 19 Food Truck/Movie Night; field rental fees for non-Red Lion Rec programs were set at $25 per hour per field and added to the fee schedule.
Council did not adopt a final plan for the amphitheater grant at the meeting and directed staff to return with options and any required grant-application changes before the August work session.
