Searles trustees on Jan. 20 discussed a letter from Ryan DeJoy of Windham Woods School proposing ways a sports dome on adjacent property might work together with Searles School & Chapel. Lisa Thornton summarized a Jan. 7 meeting with Mr. DeJoy, saying Windham Woods serves roughly 200 students from about 97 communities and has purchased adjacent property with plans for a sports dome.
Trustees discussed Mr. DeJoy’s ideas and expressed questions and concerns about how any collaboration would function; no formal support for the project was recorded. The trustees voted 8-0 to ask Neil Fallon to draft a response letter for trustee review that would acknowledge receipt of Mr. DeJoy’s letter. The vote was recorded as a motion by Neil Fallon, seconded by Jim Bull.
The board did not direct further action or a formal position on the proposed sports dome; trustees will review the draft acknowledgement and determine next steps after seeing the response.
