The Town Council on May 26 held public hearings and approved four medical marijuana registered caregiver license renewals.
Resident Jessie spoke during the first hearing about Evergreen Cannabis Company, saying she worried "whether this type of commercial operation belongs in a residential neighborhood" because of odor, electrical load and security concerns.
Town staff and the code enforcement officer reported no complaints about the listed locations and recommended renewal for each license. The council discussed the limits of local regulation for medical caregivers and noted state law largely defines caregiver activities and siting; council members said the town can regulate retail activity but has limited control over caregiver operations established under state rules.
Council motions to approve the renewals carried unanimously: Evergreen Cannabis Company LLC (Andrew Pettengill) at 93 Lower Methodist Road (agenda item 26-048), Evergreen Cannabis Company LLC (Kristen Pettengill) at 93 Lower Methodist Road (26-049), SSJA LLC (Jacob Aitchison) at 212 Grama Road (26-050), and Samuel Hiebert at 210 Grama Road (26-051).
