The Town Council on May 26 approved a major mass gathering permit for the 154th Cumberland County Fair, scheduled for Sept. 27–Oct. 3 at the Cumberland Fairgrounds.
Liz Tarantino, secretary of the Cumberland Farmers Club, told the council the fair will include a rodeo, international horse and ox pulls, 4‑H competitions, food vendors and a Gillette Midway; organizers plan to work closely with police, fire and the usual parking crew. "We're just excited to have another fair," Tarantino said.
Staff told council police and fire had reviewed the event plans and recommended approval. The chair noted estimated attendance of about 77,000 people, similar to recent years.
A council member moved to approve the major mass gathering permit and the council voted unanimously to grant it.
