The Tangipahoa Parish council voted on May 26 to proceed with condemnation for a fire-damaged property at 14086 New Genesee Road in District 4.
Code enforcement described the structure as a single-story house whose interior had been severely burned, saying “the living room is burnt completely through the ceiling” and that the roof is visible in places. The officer reported that the owner, Nace Pecorrera, is deceased and that the county’s last point of contact, his daughter Danielle Pecorrera, had not responded to letters since December 2025; staff said mailed notices were returned and they had no working address or phone contact.
Council members said they had tried to allow time for the family to act but that months had passed without remediation. Council member (District 4) moved to proceed; after a second the council conducted a roll call and approved moving forward with the condemnation process.
The council’s action directs staff to continue the legal steps necessary to abate the nuisance, including the imposition of a lien for corrective costs if the parish completes work on the property. No precise timetable for demolition or repair was announced during the meeting, and staff said that contact information for Danielle Pecorrera is not available and former notices were returned as undeliverable.
The council did not take immediate possession; the motion authorizes the parish to continue statutory procedures toward condemnation and remediation. The council did not record any public comment from the property owner or her representative during the hearing.
