Lori Gates-Addison told the CPMT there has been an increase in overdoses in Russell County and that suspicious deaths are under investigation in Tazewell County. The Tazewell County Health Department will provide additional NARCAN training for surrounding counties in response to the trend.
Robbie Davis connected the rise in drug use to increased gang activity and noted that the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) provides a regional gang training monthly in Abingdon. The meeting packet included community announcements and training resources; no formal motions or funding allocations were recorded as part of these announcements.
CPMT members were reminded of OCS training opportunities and the meeting adjourned at 11:28 a.m.
