Miss Anderson summarized the options and said draft C creates a fuller spring break for teachers by moving one teacher work day and swapping an annual leave day to give a more contiguous week off in March. Board members raised schedule details, including how teacher work days intersect with religious observances (one member asked to preserve a Yom Kippur work day for those who observe) and whether a May 5 work day should be moved to better accommodate community requests.
Staff said the calendars had been shared with the superintendent’s teachers advisory council and other committees and that feedback favored drafts B and C, with C receiving more support because it created a more complete spring break. Anderson and staff said they had solicited input via committee meetings and a Google form and could add a broader teacher survey if the board asked for it.
The board signaled a "thumbs up" for option C and staff will include that option on the evening action agenda for a final vote.
