Mound House seeks fundraising support as staff and grant capacity remain limited

John McClain, the council liaison, said the town’s gift policy is being clarified and noted that donations over $10,000 will require council review while smaller gifts may be accepted at staff discretion: "If it becomes over $10,000, then it has to be brought back to council," he said. Members urged staff to identify the costs associated with reopening exhibits and hiring for grant and development roles so the council can consider those needs in the next budget cycle.
Karina reported the Friends of the Mound House are discussing ways to fundraise and may support hiring a grant writer through donor funding or by advocating to the town for a dedicated position. The committee recommended staff prepare a concise list of priorities and cost estimates for council consideration.
