Council authorizes temporary senior-center relocation to VFW hall under lease amendment

Parks Director Alina Hibbs told the council the city renewed a lease earlier in the year with VFW Post 1949 to support recreation programming. Because planned structural upgrades at the Enumclaw Senior Center will require temporary relocation of senior services, staff proposed a second lease amendment granting the city temporary exclusive occupancy of the VFW Hall from June 1 through Sept. 30, 2026 (with two preexisting rentals excepted).
Hibbs said the city will compensate VFW Post 1949 a total of $6,800 to cover the temporary use and that this cost will be absorbed into the senior-center project budget; she also noted small ADA-accessibility improvements to the VFW Hall would be undertaken and funded from the project budget. Staff recommended passage of resolution 18-78 and council voted to approve the lease amendment.
Council recorded no amendments to the staff recommendation; the council noted the lease supports continuity of senior programming during renovations.
