Poweshiek County supervisors approve payroll, permits and agreements during May 21 meeting

In a short session the Poweshiek County Board of Supervisors approved payroll of $347,643.39, a cigarette permit for Pilot Travel Center, a liquor license for Triple K Sips for a July 3 event, the FY27 public health service agreement with UnityPoint Health–Grinnell, and authorized signing the FY25 audit representation letter.
The Poweshiek County Board of Supervisors approved a slate of routine consent and business items during its May 21 meeting.
The board approved payroll for May 22, 2026 totaling $347,643.39; approved a cigarette permit application for Pilot Travel Center; and approved a liquor license for Triple K Sips, LLC d/b/a Lucky Wife Wine Slushies for an event set for July 3, 2026 at 268 Center Point Drive in Montezuma. The liquor-license motion and other consent items were moved by Supervisor Jeff Tindle, seconded by Supervisor Jacki Bolen, and recorded as "2 ayes. Motion carried." The minutes do not record further debate on these items.
The supervisors also approved the FY27 Service Agreement for public health services between UnityPoint Health–Grinnell (d/b/a Grinnell Regional Public Health), the Poweshiek County Board of Health, and Poweshiek County. Separately, the board authorized Vice Chairperson Jacki Bolen to sign the FY25 audit representation letter to the Auditor of State.
County Engineer Lyle Brehm gave a brief road update: bridge work continues on 520th Avenue at Deep River and asphalt work on Ewart Road is complete; pavement markings and rumble strips remain to be installed. State Senator Annette Sweeney joined the meeting briefly. The board adjourned at 10:05 a.m.
