The Ottawa Special Events Committee approved two event funding requests at its March 5 meeting, voting to provide $1,000 for the 3rd annual pop concert on March 28 and $2,000 to support the Run Starved Rock Marathon’s race setup and porta-potty repair and replacement.
Jim Reilly moved to approve the $1,000 pop concert request, which identified Matt McKeever as the requester and listed school maintenance, a sound technician and a musician as uses; Candy Moore seconded the motion and the committee approved it. The pop concert is scheduled for March 28 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Central School.
Separately, the committee considered a request related to the Run Starved Rock Marathon that had been submitted for $2,500 and was changed to $2,000 to cover Thrush porta-potty repair and replacement and race set-up needs. Jim Reilly moved the amended $2,000 request; Ron Lambert seconded and the motion was approved.
The meeting minutes record motions and approvals but do not include a roll-call vote or individual yes/no tallies for either motion. Minutes and financial reports were later approved by the committee as part of routine business. The committee adjourned at 6:45 p.m.; its next meeting is scheduled for April 2, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
