Commissioner Curtiss Hoffman briefed the commission that a Liberty Mutual development project includes a small parcel in Ashland that contains two ceremonial stone sites recorded by antiquarian sources and in town records.
Hoffman said Susan Thorne is the principal contact organizing public support for the project and that the Select Board has been informed of the commission’s interest in preservation. He noted that the majority of the development is in neighboring Hopkinton, but the recorded ceremonial stones on the Ashland portion prompted the commission to flag the matter for continued attention.
The commission did not vote or take formal preservation action at this meeting; the item was noted for follow-up with town staff and the Select Board.
