City staff told the board petitioners Nicole and Danny Hardcastle (parcel 44486) and Derek and Tiffany McCormick (parcel 117571) have asked the city to vacate an undeveloped Virginia Drive right-of-way that separates their properties and prevents access to a paved city street.
City Clerk explained that staff and utility providers reviewed the request and approved it; the right-of-way is wooded and undeveloped, about 0.7 acres (approximately 30,350 square feet). The petition was signed by the adjoining property owners, and staff said notice of the public hearing was published May 24 and will be published again May 31 to meet statutory notice requirements. If the board vacates the right-of-way, ownership would extend to the centerline for each adjacent parcel.
A public hearing on the petition is scheduled for the board’s June 2 meeting. Staff said any further statutory steps would follow publication and the hearing.
