Applicant asks commission to continue rezoning request for 2936 Alamance Road to June

At the start of the May 18 meeting the commission considered Rezoning 20, a request by the applicant (Morgan Thomas) to rezone 4.749 acres at 2936 Alamance Road from medium-density residential and medium industrial to general business limited-use zoning.
Ryan Moffitt, an attorney representing the applicant, told the commission he had been contacted by several nearby property owners who had concerns and asked for additional time for the applicant to meet with neighbors. "If we could have another month so my client and I can do some communicating with some of the folks here this evening," Moffitt said, and he asked the commission to continue the application to the June meeting.
A motion to continue the item to the June 22 meeting was made and seconded; the commission approved the continuation by voice vote. The applicant and staff said they will communicate with affected property owners prior to the next hearing. No final decision on the rezoning was made at the commission meeting.
