Brown County commissioners approve routine permits, reimbursements and inspections

Brown County commissioners met May 26 and approved a set of routine administrative items, including property-use agreements, a reimbursement to a county service provider and continuation of an annual roofing inspection program.
Treasurer Betty Spiker told the board that at the May 20 tax sale "72 properties sold, 11 did not sell," and said the unsold properties will be placed on a later tax-foreclosure sale this year. County Counselor Austin Parker also updated commissioners on an upcoming impound-vehicle sale and recommended approval of an initial on-site visit by BetonBallon for preliminary research and design.
Commissioner Richard Tesoriero moved to approve the minutes of the May 18, 2026 meeting; Commissioner William Pollock seconded and the motion carried. The board approved two property-use agreements: one moved by Commissioner Pollock to allow Natalie Brammer to use the northeast corner of the courthouse lawn June 12 for a Homemade Bliss cookie pop-up, and another moved by Commissioner Tesoriero to allow Pastor Jim Farris to use the south side of the lawn July 4 for a 250th USA Prayer Meeting. Both motions were seconded and carried.
The board also approved a reimbursement to Brown County Developmental Services for $7,448.43 to correct a 2025 tonnage invoicing error. Commissioner Lucas Heinen moved the reimbursement; Commissioner Tesoriero seconded and the motion carried.
Commissioners reviewed an invoice from Stanfield Roofing for $802.02 for annual inspection of four county-owned buildings and voted to continue the county's inspection program with Stanfield Roofing. Commissioner Tesoriero moved the measure; Commissioner Pollock seconded and the motion carried.
The meeting included several brief executive sessions — an attorney-client session requested by County Counselor Austin Parker and personnel sessions requested by Road and Bridge Superintendent Jerry Hisle and County Clerk Nicole Lee. Each executive session recessed and returned with no formal action recorded.
The meeting adjourned at 2:24 p.m.; the next regular session is scheduled for Friday, May 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
