Chip Volpe, Danbury’s purchasing agent, told the Board of Awards on April 29 that Public Buildings requested adding Danbury High School West to the city’s existing Brightly work‑order software and that the ordered amount is $42,061.55.
Sean Hanley, the superintendent of public buildings, said the price covers a facility condition assessment, setup of preventive‑maintenance schedules and barcode tagging of equipment so staff can enter precise work orders. “They’ll be there a couple days,” Hanley said, adding that the vendor will photograph, barcode and catalog equipment and provide lifecycle replacement guidance.
Volpe said the department filed a sole‑source justification, describing Brightly as a proprietary system with no alternative vendor for compatibility. The motion to award the addition to Brightly was made, seconded by Dan Garrick, and the board approved it unanimously; Volpe said the award is contingent on review of the full assessment report.
Why it matters: the assessment will map assets across roughly 270,000 square feet, and Hanley said adding the high school could increase the city’s maintenance agreement cost when the building’s square footage is folded into the total.
The board treated the action as a requisition to be executed from the operating account; no further public debate followed and Volpe confirmed the award after the unanimous vote.
Next steps: staff will accept the assessment team on site, complete the Brightly setup, and return any required documentation to purchasing for contract execution and invoicing.
