Councillor Saj said the petition highlights residents who "deserve to feel safe where they work and live" and questioned whether the council was operating a two‑tier approach after £200,000 was recently allocated to city‑centre safety measures. He handed a hard copy to the chair and said a digital copy had been gathered via change.org.
A cabinet member thanked him, said she would "have a good read of this" and would check the signatures and what multi‑agency steps could be taken. The cabinet member said the ward sits on the border of Westgate and that officers would consider what could be done in response.
