Plant City manager spotlights Sansone Park on National Take a Walk in a Park Day

Plant City Manager Bill McDaniel visited Mike E. Sansone Park to mark National Take a Walk in a Park Day and urged residents to use the city’s parks for health and recreation. McDaniel introduced himself as the city manager and framed the event as an opportunity to showcase local amenities.

"Plant City has over 25 parks within our parks and recreation department," McDaniel said, describing a system that includes neighborhood parks, pocket parks and athletic facilities designed for summer activity. He identified Sansone Park as one of the city's larger sites and noted its location just south of I‑4 on Park Road.

McDaniel listed the park’s amenities, saying it includes "baseball fields, basketball and volleyball courts, walking trails, playgrounds, and the city skate park." He added that the park encompasses roughly 77 acres and is "open year round and ready for adventure," emphasizing year‑round access for residents and visitors.

On the park’s community role, McDaniel said the site "plays host to a number of tournaments and athletic leagues throughout the year," drawing participants from outside the area and providing a revenue source to help operate and maintain the facilities. He framed parks as part of the city’s broader effort to promote health and social interaction among residents.

McDaniel encouraged citizens to visit Sansone Park and the city’s other recreational sites, saying, "We encourage all of our residents and visitors to spend some time at this world class facility and share in the experience of the outdoors." No formal policy actions, votes or funding decisions were announced at the event.
