Lipscomb County Commissioners met in special session Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Lipscomb County Courthouse. County Judge Dori Roots presided; the court convened at 4:19 P.M., opened with the pledge and invocation, and approved the minutes from the April 13 meeting.
The motion to approve the April 13, 2026 minutes was made by Commissioner Brandon Meier and seconded by Commissioner Dan Cockrell; the vote carried unanimously. The public-comment period was recorded as having no speakers.
At 4:21 P.M. the court voted to go into executive session under Tex. Gov't Code §551.071 to seek the advice of the county attorney concerning pending or contemplated litigation identified in the agenda as Cause No. 2-25-cv-78-Z-BR (Northern District of Texas). Commissioner Scotty Schilling moved to convene the closed session; Commissioner Brandon Meier seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
The court returned to open session at 6:46 P.M.; the return-to-open-session motion was made by Commissioner Juan M. Cantu and seconded by Commissioner Brandon Meier. The minutes state that no action was taken after the executive session.
The court adjourned at 6:47 P.M. The next regular meeting was scheduled for May 11, 2026, at 9:00 A.M. The minutes of the April 24 session were certified by County Clerk Chrissy Dunn on April 27, 2026.
