Commissioners discussed personnel policy, bond renewals and retirements during the May 11 session. County Treasurer Kimberly Long presented information on implementing a Family Leave Pool; after discussion the court voted unanimously to retain the existing Sick Pool rather than create a Family Leave Pool.
The court approved renewal bonds for jailer/dispatcher Juanita Rockwell and jailer/dispatcher Jessica Marie Keller by unanimous vote. The minutes recorded no dissent and show motions and seconds for both bond approvals.
Under matters of mutual concern, the court recorded upcoming staff retirements: Norma Boughan will retire effective May 31, 2026, and Ray Lee Price will retire effective July 30, 2026. The court also convened an executive session under Tex. Gov't Code §551.071 to consult the county attorney on pending litigation; the minutes record no public details from that session.
The court directed the county attorney to review a prior roof-repair issue involving bids from Dewitt Roofing and work by 4L Construction to determine whether reimbursement action is appropriate; that review was noted but no formal claim was filed at the meeting.
