Caribou County approves claims and payroll, raises mailing fee and designates polling places for May primary

On April 11 the Caribou County Board of Commissioners voted to pay claims totaling $163,964.22 and payroll claims totaling $287,725.22 and approved minutes from March 28, 2016. Commissioner Phil Christensen moved to approve the claims and payroll; Commissioner Mark Mathews seconded and the motion carried.
Assessor Aaron Cook told the board the State increased the size of registration renewal mailings and that postage costs rose; Commissioner Mathews moved to raise the county mailing fee from $2.60 to $3.34 to cover the new cost, Commissioner Christensen seconded, and the motion carried. The minutes record that the County will absorb the increased cost of the mailing itself.
Commissioners also designated polling places for the May 17, 2016 primary election: Soda Springs precincts #1–4 at Hooper Commercial Plaza; Grace precincts at Grace High School and the Gem Valley Performing Arts Center and the American Legion Building; Bancroft precinct at the Lions Building; Absentee precinct at the Caribou County Courthouse; and Wayan and Freedom as mail-out precincts. The board approved Certificates of Residency/Affidavits for several students, and approved continued county support for the Unplugged program. Treasurer Angie Mendenhall flagged that some bank signature cards list signers no longer with the county and raised debit-card security concerns; she said she will email details for discussion with the county's outside auditor.
