County seeks geotech help for sluffing at Clements Hill; coordinates with BLM on road access

Kim Spencer, Road & Bridge Supervisor, told commissioners on April 11 that crews will begin applying chloride on county roads the following day and that a mountain slope at Clements Hill (near Po#ters) is sluffing. Commissioners asked Spencer to consult with a geotechnical engineer and contact the State to identify corrective solutions.
Spencer also confirmed the new crusher can process cement, allowing crushed cement to be used as road material. Attorney Doug Wood asked whether the Chip-Seal MOU with the City of Soda was acceptable; Spencer said it appeared ready to sign, and county staff indicated Alan would send an updated agreement to the board for signature at the next meeting.
BLM representative Blaine Newman told the board BLM gates will remain closed until May 15 due to encroachments, said he will assist the county with the application to make Last Chance Canal Road a county road and arranged a site visit on May 10 at 10:00 a.m. Newman also discussed coordination for weed spraying on BLM land and ongoing work at the Blackfoot River recreation site.
County officials asked the State and a geo-technical engineer to evaluate slope stabilization options at Clements Hill; no funding decision was made at the meeting.
