Council consensus: Bunker Hill indicated it would be willing to fund the same amount it budgeted for the earlier Blalock crosswalk (the Piney Point interlocal model, which had a $10,000 per-city budget but an $8,555 actual cost). Hedwig Village would be asked to fund the remaining construction cost and to participate in a pro‑rata share of ongoing maintenance because of the embedded lighting. Steve Smith will pursue further discussions with Hedwig and return with a draft interlocal agreement.
Because the crossing sits inside Bunker Hill Village but benefits Hedwig residents, councilmembers were focused on fairness of cost-sharing and on limiting long-term maintenance exposure to the city.
