Zoning board sets January hearings for proposed supportive short-term housing at Eagleville site

The Lower Providence Township Zoning Hearing Board scheduled two full hearing days in late January to hear a contested application from Resources for Human Development (RHD) seeking to establish supportive short-term housing at the Eagleville Hospital site.
Mark Kabirsky read the application details and noted the parcel is in the R1 Residential/Institution Overlay District. Solicitor Eric Frey told the board the applicant and counsel have been consulted about scheduling and that the board should pick two large dates to accommodate expected public attendance. "What as of now, we're looking at scheduling the first hearing on January 29, at 07:00 at Arcola. And also to schedule the second hearing, which will be January 30 at 07:00, at Arcola as well," Frey said.
The board confirmed those dates on a voice vote. Frey said the hearing will be re-advertised, the property will be posted and notices mailed under the township procedures so residents and property owners receive notice. The board also reviewed the process for party status and standing: at the first hearing the board will ask attendees if they wish to become parties, the applicant will present sworn testimony and exhibits, and then parties and the public will have opportunities to question witnesses and present argument.
No testimony on the merits was taken tonight; the scheduling action establishes logistics and the procedural roadmap for the January hearings.
