Applicant counsel Kaylee James told the board the campus property (Block 483, Lot 17) is roughly 30 acres within the ORD research‑and‑development zone; the applicant previously received approval in 2021 for a 55,000–176,000‑square‑foot life‑sciences building and is seeking extensions because market conditions and tenant interest delayed construction. "Tonight, the applicant is asking for all 3 1‑year periods at the same time, which would extend the approval to 04/27/2026," James said (she later noted the three extensions together would extend vesting to 04/27/2027).
Board professionals and members emphasized that any previously imposed conditions — including environmental reporting or testing and township permit conditions — would remain in effect during the extended vesting period. The board moved to grant the requested extensions and the motion carried by roll call.
The extension preserves the applicant’s vested rights while the property owner pursues tenants and funding; it does not approve new construction plans or relieve the applicant of condition compliance.
