YARMOUTH — The Yarmouth Zoning Board of Appeals on May 28 unanimously approved a special permit for a 36-by-60 barn at 12 Denver Drive, in an R25 zoning district, allowing applicant Sydney Horton to garage boats and perform restoration work.
Horton told the board the barn is intended for personal use — to house a boat in winter and work on a project boat — and that the lot’s wooded vegetation would be left undisturbed. Horton described a single front overhead door in the revised elevations and said the building has open trusses with a ridge height of about 23 feet; there would be no second‑floor living space.
Board members asked whether Horton planned to rent the building (she said no), whether painting or epoxy work would generate odors (she said no), and whether the structure would be visible (the lot is wooded). Board member John moved to approve the petition as requested; Tim seconded. The board voted 5–0.
After approval the board asked Horton to withdraw the variance request; members voted to allow withdrawal without prejudice and congratulated the applicant.
