Broken Bow council approves blight studies and redevelopment plans for Areas 10 and 11

The Broken Bow City Council on June 14, 2022, approved blight studies and general redevelopment plans for Proposed Redevelopment Areas Number 10 and Number 11 following presentations by consultant Bobbi Pettit of Five Rule Planning.

Pettit presented the findings for Area No. 10 during an open public hearing that began at 6:03 p.m.; the council closed the hearing at 6:19 p.m. and then approved the Blight Study for Proposed Redevelopment Area Number 10. The motion to approve the blight study was moved by Councilmember David Schmidt and seconded by Councilmember David Baltz; the roll-call vote was Schmidt, Baltz, Miller and Myers voting aye.

The council opened a separate hearing on the General Redevelopment Plan for Area No. 10 at 6:20 p.m.; after Pettit’s presentation the council closed the hearing and approved the General Redevelopment Plan. That motion was moved by Schmidt and seconded by Larry Miller; Schmidt, Miller, Myers and Baltz voted aye.

For Proposed Redevelopment Area Number 11, Pettit likewise presented a blight study and a general redevelopment plan. The council opened the Area No. 11 blight hearing at 6:25 p.m., closed it at 6:34 p.m., and approved the blight study on a motion by David Myers, seconded by David Schmidt (vote: Myers, Schmidt, Miller, Baltz — ayes). The council opened the general plan hearing for Area No. 11 at 6:35 p.m., closed it at 6:37 p.m., and approved the General Redevelopment Plan (motion by David Schmidt, seconded by David Baltz; roll-call vote recorded as unanimous).
