Parikh application for patio and shade carried to Nov. 5 after stormwater concerns

Sachin Parikh and a family representative appeared before the Parsippany‑Troy Hills Board of Adjustment Sept. 24 seeking variances to legalize a concrete pad and to install a shade structure near the rear property line.
Parikh said the area had been previously disturbed and the proposed work would clean up debris and improve yard use. He said the shade would sit on the existing pad and that the proposed structure would be about 1.5 feet from the property line in the location described to the board.
The township engineer’s letter — referenced during testimony — requires the applicants to provide stormwater management details for review. Board members and the engineer emphasized that the applicant should meet with the township engineer before the next hearing; the board carried the application to Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. to allow time for that meeting and any plan revisions.
Board members also noted the existing survey does not show a French drain the applicant described; the engineer and board asked the applicant to document current site conditions with photos for the engineer’s review. The board advised the applicants that if drainage revisions increase soil export above local thresholds they may need additional approvals.
What’s next: Parikh must meet with the township engineer, provide revised stormwater information and return to the board on Nov. 5.
