Boonville approves major project payments and coating contract as City Lake work continues

The Boonville Board of Works approved two notable infrastructure actions and discussed further street repairs for stormwater issues on Millis Avenue.

City Engineer Clint Roos recommended awarding the Millis Avenue water-tank repainting contract to O & J Coatings, the low bidder, at $256,500. “O and J Coatings was our low bidder,” Roos said, and staff recommended the award based on a complete submittal package and past good performance. The board approved the contract by motion and voice vote.

On the City Lake project, Roos presented pay application No. 3 for GM Development for $806,353.65, representing work completed to date on the splash pad, restroom, basketball court and playground foundations. “All the services provided to date in that pay application match what the mayor said to GM Development,” Roos said. The board voted to approve the payment by voice vote.

Roos also briefed members on persistent stormwater problems on Millis Avenue, showing photos of concentrated runoff, missing inlets and washed asphalt near curbs. He recommended adding curb and gutter, installing storm sewer inlets and in some areas performing full-depth patching. Because Rudolph’s crew is mobilized for community-crossing work, Roos said the city could pursue a change order for urgent full‑depth repairs or seek funding through the next community crossings round.

Board members said they want the most urgent Millis Avenue sections addressed before school resumes and asked staff to obtain change-order pricing from Rudolph while crews are on site. No final procurement decision beyond the O & J and GM Development approvals was made at the meeting.
