Rensselaer board approves minutes, a police promotion and multiple payments for water and wastewater work

The Rensselaer Board of Public Works and Safety approved several routine actions, a police promotion and payments tied to water and wastewater projects at its meeting.
Minutes: The board voted to approve the minutes of the prior meeting following a motion by a board member and a second.
Police promotion: Police Chief Matt Anderson recommended promoting Officer Jacob Hoffmeyer from patrolman third class to patrolman second class. "He graduated the academy earlier this year. His evaluation is up to par, and training's up to par," Anderson said, and the board approved the promotion to take effect immediately at the start of the pay period.
Payments for long-term control plan phases: Superintendent Bryce Black asked the board to approve Commonwealth SRF/DRF payments tied to the long-term control plan. He said SRF/DRF number 12 covers bidding and negotiation services for Division A and Division C projects through June 2025 for $10,376, and SRF/DRF number 13 covers asset management planning, flow metering, hydraulic modeling and permit assistance through June 30, 2025 for $54,325. The board approved both payments by voice vote.
Water utility improvement: Black also requested approval of SRF/ERF number 65 to cover additional RPR and American Iron and Steel compliance for water-tower work and additional bidding for lead service lines with contingency funds, totaling $2,992; the board approved the payment.
Project schedule update: Black gave a preconstruction update on the wastewater project, noting a preconstruction meeting had occurred, the contract took effect last Thursday, and Vision Sewer is expected to mobilize to begin cleaning and televising in October with lining planned during winter months if weather cooperates. He said the team is targeting on-site mobilization for wastewater at the beginning of November and that contracts were signed after attorney review.
