Mayor proclaims Georgia Power contribution to Rosenwald Park after state grant

Mayor Anne Tarpley proclaimed the City of Hampton’s Rosenwald Park redevelopment project had been selected for a $500,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant and thanked Georgia Power for a corporate donation and volunteer support.
Tarpley said the grant, awarded through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, will be matched by a local commitment and used for improvements and redesign of the former Rosenwald School site. ‘‘Georgia Power desired to positively impact and contribute to the community,’’ Tarpley said, announcing that the company donated $9,975 to the project and pledged volunteers to participate in development of the park.
The proclamation described the park project as recognizing the historic and cultural significance of the Rosenwald School and noted local arts projects commissioned for the park. Tarpley signed the proclamation on Dec. 9, 2025.
City staff did not present an implementation timeline in the proclamation; council discussion of contract awards and project timelines occurred later in the meeting during staff updates.
