City Secretary Nadia (Speaker 3) read the canvass, listing vote totals and saying the returns "were duly canvassed by the city council." James “Jimbo” Snyder was declared mayor; Steven Bishop, Roxanne Striker, Bruce Leinhardt, Dorothy Allen and Samuel Palin were declared council members after provisional votes were certified.
An official administered the oath of office to the newly elected officials, who then took their seats. The presiding official congratulated both newly elected and returning members and opened nominations for mayor pro tem. Councilmember Speaker 14 nominated Roxanne Schreiter; the council elected her by voice vote after members praised her experience and class attendance.
Members said they intend to prioritize several items in coming meetings, including adopting a hazard mitigation plan, pursuing grant funding and considering changes to election timing to increase turnout. The meeting concluded with councilmembers thanking election workers and encouraging residents to engage with their representatives.
