Madera Beach adopts balanced FY2026 budget; commissioners to workshop HR position

The Madera Beach Board of Commissioners voted 5‑0 on Sept. 24 to adopt Ordinance 2025‑16, approving the city’s balanced budget for fiscal year 2026, which begins Oct. 1, 2025 and ends Sept. 30, 2026.
City Attorney read the ordinance in full and cited Florida Statute 166.241 regarding the requirement to adopt an annual budget showing revenues and appropriations. The ordinance text presented to the board stated the FY2026 budget is balanced and will regulate city expenditures for the coming fiscal year.
During discussion a commissioner said the council should approve the budget tonight but planned to return with an amendment to add an HR position. Andrew (staff) responded, "if that's the direction of the commission, we'll put that on October workshop meeting to workshop it, and then it would go in November regular meeting as a resolution for a budget amendment," indicating a two‑step path for a personnel change.
A motion to adopt the budget was made, seconded and approved on a 5‑0 roll call. The board instructed staff to place the HR‑position proposal on the October workshop agenda and to present a budget‑amendment resolution in November if commissioners decide to proceed.
