The Dilworth City Council approved Gertz Construction as construction manager/adviser (CMA) for the Dilworth Community Center project after staff and volunteers completed interviews and evaluations.
"In the end, the group ultimately decided to offer the work for CMA services to Gertz Construction," Peyton, a city staffer, told the council and said Gertz has worked on the city’s fire-hall project.
Council members asked how construction cost estimates would be treated and whether contractor fees could fluctuate as materials and specifications solidify. A Gertz representative said pricing can change as scope and materials are finalized but that the firm based its fee proposals on a consistent cost benchmark used by the city on prior projects.
Peyton said Gertz will start by attending architect meetings and listening to progress while preparing estimates once the program and materials are finalized. Councilmember Nash moved to approve the CMA selection; Steichen seconded and the motion carried on a voice vote.
Council members spoke favorably about continuing a relationship with a local construction partner and noted the goal to begin site work "next season" so the crew does not have to move a job trailer far. The council asked staff to return with budget details as estimates are developed.
